Fun Birthday Party Games for Kids
You cannot bring children together without planning the activities to keep them busy. They will get bored and things can become messy if they are unruly. It is easy to plan the activities if you are looking for birthday party games for kids. 'Catch the balloon' is an easy interactive game suitable for children between five and ten years.
It is an indoor game and involves three or four balloons. Have the children form a circle and take numbers. Select the last child and have him or her stand at the center of the circle.
The directive is to call one number, throw the balloon in the air and the child who bears the number should try to catch the balloon before it hits the surface. If the child manages, he or she takes position at the center as the leader.
Another variation to this game is dances instead of balloons. The child who holds the last number dances vigorously at the center and then picks another child who will then tag another and the game continues. Birthday party games for kids can involve a treasure hunt.
In the preparations for the event, design some treasure maps and hide the treasure in the house or the compound. For instance, you can make a sketch of the house from the door with arrows leading to the inside, squares showing the rooms and open spaces leading to the backyard. Make it as complex as possible and hide the treasure at one place.
When the children arrive, give then the treasure maps and the sketches and they can start 'digging'. Safety of the children is a priority so the maps should not lead to corners where the children can get injured. You can leave clues in some areas. For example, if the treasure is a toy track, you can hide miniature pieces in various corners. This activity will excite the children. You can let them carry whatever they find in the hunt to make it even more enjoyable.
For outdoor birthday party games for kids, the children can play 'The Octopus'. One child will act as the octopus and he or she is supposed to chase the other kids who are 'The Sea Life'. Once tagged, 'The Sea Life' becomes the 'Octopus's Tentacle'.
They should help the octopus to tag others. To make the game last for a while, once 'The Tentacle' has tagged another child, 'it' becomes sea life again. Whatever game you have in mind, ensure that it is safe, constructive and something to look forward to for the next occasion.
